The Annual Scarecrow Festival

Every year at the start of Autumn Belbroughton hosts it's annual Scarecrow Festival.  The weather was beautiful, a perfect day for a walk around this lovely village and see all the hard work.

This year the theme was Icons From History.

Robin Hood

Fryer Tuc

I thin Oliver thought they were real presents, lol

I think this one was the overall winner, I Want To Rake Free :-)

So much thought and effort went into making these scarecrows, I think this was my favourite,
Jack the Reaper - Wanted Cereal Killer

This one was Interesting

And finally, nothing at all to do with the scarecrows, but Belbroughton has this really cool phone box which has been de-commissioned and is now owned by the the village I believe.  They have turned it into a place where books are exchanged.
How ingenious!

Now THATS the sort of village I would like to live in :-)

The scarecrows looks fantastic, what a lot of hard work went into them.
I've seen a book borrowing - phonebox before in a village, so practical when they done have a library and services for the mobile bookbus are being cut. They often house a defibrillator machine for the village as well.

Some of those scarecrows were ingenious. Some people have a great imagination and good hands to create these.

What a lovely idea, and good to so many people involved in making scarecrows. I have seen telephone boxes used like that before, I too would love to have the chance to use on of those, such a fun idea.

What a cool event. I don't think that I have ever seen a scarecrow event before. I love the phone booth too. What a great way to put it to use!

What a fun festival, and a great idea for the phone booth. In our city we have several "Little Libraries" where people have mini-bookcases in their front yard for neighbors to borrow books from.
