The madness begins

I popped to Home Bargains yesterday for a few toiletries and cleaning supplies and it was absolutely rammed, not one trolly left.  Luckily I didn't need that much and managed with a basket, I was glad to get out of there and back home, I don't know if it's an age thing but I find all this last minute panic buying and excess food shopping so ridiculous.  I feel overwhelmed just seeing the amount of food in some peoples trollies

I'm still not feeling the Christmas spirit, (did you guess, lol).

I'm just waiting for a couple of presents to arrive by post and then I can start the wrapping next week, the spare room looks like Santa's grotto and the house feels like its groaning under the weight of all the extra things, does anyone else get that overwhelming feeling that the house is too full this time of year?  or is that just me?

My tree finally got decorations but I haven't unpacked any of my stitched ornaments this year, now I'm thinking It's not worth bothering this late in the month, everything will be taken down on New Years Eve anyway so I will just be making more work for myself.

Sorry, I don't know why I'm being such a misery guts about Christmas this year 🙄

Dee noticed my Christmas cactus last time, I actually have two plants.  This is the largest and is about ten years old, not as many flowers as last year but it's still a good show.

This is a baby of the one above, I think I knocked a stem off the big plant one time, they sprout roots so easily if popped into some water.  I think there is a flower on almost every stem this time, so pretty.

We are still enjoying our advent jigsaw, we are all up to date now and half way there already! We are going to take it in turns and do a day each now until Christmas Eve, It's been something different, a bit of calm and quiet in a busy time.  I'll post a photo of it once it's completed.

I pared down many of my Christmas decorations a few years back. I still feel like I have a lot, but not as much. I honestly would be fine with nothing out but the tree. The tree I love. I always love putting Christmas up but I will admit to being ready to clean it up after Christmas. It seems like a lot before it is over to me too. I do love Christmas though.
We are doing our family celebration early so Hubby and I will have a quieter Christmas.

The pink of your cactus is beautiful.

We have a quiet Christmas as well and have for many years. I like it that way.

The flowers are spectacular, mine are almost done for the year. We went for our members’ free hot drinks at the garden centre yesterday and saw apricot coloured Schlumbergera.

I am the same , I just can't get in the Christmas sprit.
The shops are so full , I have never seen so many out shopping
Some times I wonder why are they not working , shops are full of all age groups . We never had the time to go .
It's a changing world . and not for the better.
It use to be so enjoyable . Now it seems grab everything you can. Next year I will do it through out the year.
Like I did this year with gifts.
And send Hubby out to fight for the food ha.
Enjoy a wonderful Christmas , hugs June.

We always try and get everything by the end of November and shop in the village for fresh stuff. The bid shops are just too much for us.

I hate the Christmas crowds and think that a few days after everything will be reduced. Now we are older we find it difficult to buy for each other, but are quite happy with small items. As I put the tree up, I have a sort through the decorations and ones that don't give me joy anymore and a set of unwanted lights went in the donate bag, which I gave away on our local FB free page. Xx

I don't like the Christmas shopping crowds at all and do as much as I can online or go to the stores at off-hours when I know it won't be busy. I have done a lot as there will be 10 of us here this year (with 8 staying in the house!). Lots of beds to make up, etc. in addition to the normal Christmas stuff. Love your pale pink cactus, Maggie. I had one for many years that was my grandma's, but sadly, it died. Enjoy your tree--it's a beauty! ♥

Your cactus is a beautiful colour.
Yes, the shops are busy . . . fortunately I seem to have everything under control . . . which then has me thinking, what have I forgotten!!!???

Enjoy the weekend.

All the best Jan

This year I only decorated one tree, and then decided to do a bit of room decor over and above the living room. It is going okay, but I really need to rethink how to go about this whole decor thing. Not purchasing anything new, just using what I already have.

God bless.

Your cactuses are so pretty, such a lovely pale pink. I have two but they're much darker in colour, one dark pink and one red. I've found the shops quieter than usual this year, the roads too. Perhaps they'll be busier now we're getting near to the big day.

Some places seem to be so busy with people stocking up on everything. Not really a fun time to be shopping especially if you only want a few things. Fortunately my food stores are at the bottom of our road so much less hassle for me. I just have present wrapping to finish now. Hope you find some joy over the festive season.

Unusually i do feel a bit of the Christmas spirit this year. I think its because we have met up with friends and been away for a couple of nights. I am only buying a few things and not over doing stuff. Like you I feel the excess makes me feel very uncomfortable. And I can't abide being bombarded with companies trying to get me to spend spend spend.

We generally feel the joy of Christmas, except when we are shopping! Barb has to town today for her final grocery shopping for Christmas and New Years. I am content just to stay home and putter.
