Mums blanket and cake!

I managed to finish the blanket I was making mum for Mother's Day and I'm happy to say that it was well received, hopefully it will come in useful for her keeping the chills off.

I can't remember if I mentioned that the yarn was James C Brett Marble Chunky, which worked up really quickly and was really lovely and soft after a quick wash and a soak in fabric softener and I love how the variegated yarn looks in the V stitch too.

It was Mother's Day here in the UK on Sunday, I had some lovely gifts from the girls and a treat of afternoon tea, (which was part of Joanne's present to me) although all the girls came too.

It was at somewhere we hadn't been before, Stanbrook Abbey in Malvern.  Such a beautiful place, inside and out, and the sandwiches and cakes were delicious, we all came away feeling stuffed!

The selection for 2 people

I hope that you too were well and truly spoiled on Mother Day.

Until next time

Your blanket turned out so well, I like the V stitch, I've been promising myself a scarf in it but I haven't got round to making it yet. The afternoon tea looks scrumptious, you were well and truly spoilt, as you should be on Mother's Day. It's the first year I haven't seen either of my children on Mother's Day but they did send cards and gifts through the post.

The blanket looks lovely and soft, just right for chilly moments. Haven't been back to Stanbrook Abbey for a few years now, must go back but I think I shall have to avoid those wonderful cakes - or perhaps not!! K x

*sighs* oh, I wish I could knit! I love your blanket. I bet your mum did too. Your afternoon tea looks delightful! I'd love to travel the length and breadth of the U.K. trying out every afternoon tea that is available...perhaps I could write a book about my experiences?!

Lovely, lovely blanket--I'm sure your mom was touched!
