Why?

At the risk of sounding like one of the grumpy old women, what on earth is going on with the young people today that they think that this is OK?  The same thing has been going on in London for 3 night!!  Last night Bristol and Liverpool were also targeted by rioters.  You would think to look at the pictures we lived in a
war-torn country!
Tonight the local shopping centre is under treat and my daughter had to shut her shop early, daughter #3 works near there also and i won't  let her go to work tonight.  Daughter #1, well i have mentioned what she does before, i have asked her to text me when she is on her break (if she gets one) and when she gets home so i know she's ok.

As i type i hear more police cars on the main road
I won't say any more, once i get on my soap box i'ts hard to get me off!

It's very upsetting to watch what's going on. I really feel for the families and businesses that are caught up in all of this. Something needs to be done to stop this and quickly.

I often think of the times that I grew up in...and wish for them again.....

So hard to see what is happening and knowing that those involved are so young! I hope and pray that your daughters stay safe.

Maggie, I'm so sorry to see what's happening over the pond. We had similar situation a couple of months ago after the Stanley Cup finals. It just takes a few thugs to get others riled up, then it's testerone and alcohol fueled mayhem! Actually girls were involved too, so much for equality!

Hope things settle down soon!

That is so sad, so unnecessary and so infuriating! So many persons think that it is easier to tear things down that to build things up, so they make the "easy" choice. I am curious, since a lot of these criminals are so young, where their parents are? Who in their right mind lets teenagers roam town at 3 in the morning?

I can understand that you are upset and worried - I think all of us would be! I am crossing my fingers and hoping that the situation will be dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

The world seems to be going to heck lately. Between the recession and everything else I don't know what is going on! People are so frustrated and acting in ways that don't help. Hope things get under control soon!

I'm so sorry for all of you that this is happening. It really is a mindset and behavior that I just can't understand.

I can only imagine how shocking this is to you, because it's so shocking to me in the US. I always think of the Brits as so proper and civilized. I know that these riots are the exception, but it is so sad to see it happening.

It seems like the world is going crazy. I've never understood why anyone thinks that rioting is the way to solve anything. Hope your daughters stay safe.

It is sickening what is going on in so many places. We here in the US are dealing with some of the same issues like out of control mobs attacking people and looting stores. Hope your girls are safe, and hopefully it will end soon.

It sickens me what is happening in this country. I don't think I can say that I'm proud to be English anymore. I hope your daughter stays safe.
