Time to Say Goodbye

It has served me well for the last 8 years and the previous owners for a few years before that, now it's time to rip out this tired old kitchen with it's lopsided doors and fridge that doesn't shut unless you lift up the door first :-)
The kitchen fitters will be here bright and early in the morning to start the work.

You wouldn't think you could get much in this small kitchen but let me tell you that it's taken me the best part of a week to sort, wash and pack the crap kitchenalia that was contained behind those various doors.

In the morning the microwave and kettle will be moved to the spare bedroom which will serve as our meal heating / drink making room for the next week.  I've been batch cooking all week so we have plenty of meals to ding while the work is in progress, but i can also foresee the need for at least a few take out meals :-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I get to stay at home this week and supervise all the kitchen activity so I'm hoping that i will be able to put a bit of daytime stitching in, i have 2 new starts and a finish to share with you next time (with everything else i just haven't had time to get the camera out), hopefully i can put that to rights this week :-)    I did pick MT up from the framers last week, this is what she looks like all dressed up
The weather was even good enough for me to take her outside for her photo shoot :-)
The weather has been glorious here today again,  can't believe I'm seeing people in tee shirts and even shorts!! and February not even out yet! crazy weather!
Until next time xx
I would LOVE to re-do my kitchen. It is SO 1980's! Can't wait to see how yours turns out!
Melicent Turner is a stunner! Love the sampler and the frame is perfect - beautiful picture, too!
Oh, I'm so jealous that you're getting a new kitchen. We keep talking about it - but that's all it's been - talk.
Millicent Turner is really a beauty. You took a beautiful picture and the frame is perfect.
Good morning Maggie,
That sounds good: a new kitchen! Good luck with the 'overlap' and yes, a perfect time to go outdoors as well ;)
Your sampler is BEAUTIFUL, thanks for sharing!
Bye, Carolien (who shares that opening-kitchen-doors-thing)
Oh Maggie...I would love to have a country kitchen like yours and you are getting rid of it...lol. I love that cooker. Are you keeping it??? I do not like the kitchen in this house and miss my kitchen in the last. Gee, I never thought I would say that since I dubbed it The Black Hole at one point. A kitchen remodel made it a wonderful place with simply pimping up the door, new tiles, changing the drainboard and new stove top and oven. Jos' job is too uncertain for us to put any money into this house now in case we have to sell.
MT is beautiful framed. Do you have a place for her to hang already? Seeing her makes me want to grab a good old fashioned sampler again to stitch.
Enjoy the week as you get your new kitchen and be sure to share it with us. :-)
Hugs from Holland ~
Heidi
Bye bye old kitchen! I think it looks charming right now but I'm sure the new one will look/be even better. I wish I had the $$$ right now to redo mine. *dreams*
MT looks stunning, framer did a lovely job.
Hope all is progressing well with the kitchen and you are able to make the most of your enforced time off work.
Good luck with your renovations! We knocked down a wall and redesigned our kitchen two years ago and I couldn't be happier. It's like a new home!
MT is an amazing piece! Your framer did a beautiful job on it.
Finally I am home long enough to do some blog reading and see what all the fuss is about with the new kitchen!! LOL--I'm still laughing about the mail mix up! ;) I can't wait to see the new kitchen, because I'll be honest--I think the old kitchen is pretty spiffy! I love the glass cabinet. The one thing I didn't like about this house when we bought it was the kitchen. We'd planned to rip it out but then the recession happened--and I learned to deal. LOL
Your Millicent is BEAUTIFUL!! Lucky you with such a good framer--the moulding is perfect for it.
I hope your kitchen is coming along nicely! Several years ago (pre-blogging) we gutted and rebuilt our kitchen. It was supposed to be a 2 week job. NOT. 6 weeks later I was sick of take-out but in love with the new kitchen!
Your framed sampler looks wonderful! Hope you are getting lots of stitching time!
