I've tried an audio book several times but never really thought it was for me, I like my books old school, although I do have a kindle which I use mostly on holiday.
When I was at book club on Saturday the subject of audio books came up and one of the librarians mentioned that they had a selection already pre-loaded onto a sort of MP3 device, you just plugged in your earphones and off you went!
I thought I'd give it one more go, and chose a book that I would have probably left on the shelf in paper format, I'm quite surprised at how much i'm enjoying it!
I can cook tea, do the housework, go for a walk, sit and stitch, all while listening to a book!
I think it's the headphones that make the difference, I seem to be able to concentrate more.
And talking of walking, me and Oliver headed out to tackle Walton Hill this afternoon.
It's less of an attraction that Clent Hill, but the views are still pretty good
And some pretty distractions along the way
Plenty of room to run around
And play while nanny got her puff back!
We walked for a good 2 hours this afternoon and on the way back I asked if we should go another walk tomorrow afternoon,
Oliver, "err, no"
Me - "what shall we do tomorrow then"?
Oliver - "Sit on the sofa"
So tomorrow is a film afternoon, he chose Jurassic World (again), no surprise there :-)

Ooh I like the idea of those books. I wonder if my library will ever get them.
I've never got on with audio books but as you suggest, using headphones might make the difference. I wonder how many more times you will get to see Jurassic World :) .
ha ha .... enjoy your film afternoon, perhaps with the sun being out be might be persuaded to be in the garden for a while?
I've never listened to an audio book, they've just never appealed to me somehow. Do you remember Jackanory? I was an avid reader as a child but I never liked that programme, I always much preferred reading to myself. Saying that, I think it's a great idea that they have those prerecorded devices which you can just plug your earphones in to, I'll have to see if my library do those and give one a go. Another lovely day out but I did laugh at Oliver's reply when asked if he wanted to go on another walk today. Enjoy the film! Good news, you've won my giveaway. Can you please let me have your name and address details so that I can get the parcel sent off to you.
I LOVE audio books and listen to them often while driving, cooking, cleaning, ironing :) Glad you have discovered a new way of listening. Here in the U.S. those little devices you describe are called Playaways :)
Lovely, lovely walk--thanks for sharing!
I enjoy audio books also. Lets me stitch at the same time. ;)
I've never tried an audio book, but I really like the idea of being able to sit and crochet or sew while listening, maybe it's time to try one. What a lovely walk, I can almost taste the fresh air, brilliant views, sounds like you tired him out xx
Hi Maggie ...
I saw your name on Jo's blog and thought I must come and visit you!
Love all your photo's, can't say I've thought of trying an audio book, but it sounds good.
Happy September
All the best Jan
What a great walk you took with Oliver. Wonderful pictures of the scenery. And of Oliver, too :)

Oliver is a young man after my own heart, love his comment! I really enjoy a good audio book. Glad you are learning to enjoy them.
What beautiful views on your lovely walk. Oliver's response made me laugh a lot because my hubby and I went for a long walk yesterday, and at the end, he declared, "tomorrow is a ME day. I'm not going anywhere.
