It's A Good Job He's Working Away!!!!!

Skip back to Sunday morning and i ask DH (who so doesn't deserve the title right now!) to move the freezer and sweep under it, our freezer, a large chest freezer, is in the cellar, which I might add I spent at least an hour after work every day last week clearing of the duplicated amount of things we seem to have acquired over the last few years and also disposing of said rubbish, anyway...
He reports that jobs is done, and I think no more about it.
Until tonight...when i go to get mince beef out to make spag bol tomorrow night.

You just know what coming don't you?
The stupid $%&**$ hadn't plunged the freekin freezer back in!
I'M SO ANGRY I COULD SPIT!!
I just fired a text off to him letting him know what I'm thinking, (and I can't write that down here or you would just not speak to me again!)

So, it's 11'O'clock and I'm going to throw everything out of the freezer before i go to bed - 2 joints of meat, 3 lots of stewing beef for casseroles, bags of salmon, cod, haddock, pies, bread and numerous bags of (what was) frozen veg, i stopped counting the waste after the first bag was full!

All I can say is that it's a good jobs it's bin collection day tomorrow because I've go two extra bags FULL of food for them tomorrow.

Speak soon when i can get my breath

Wow! As Gracie said, take a really deep breath and then make him go to the store to restock the freezer! Do I hear reservations are for dinner tonight?

These things happen. Mine broke a treasured ornament this week whilst trying to do something nice for me so I couldn't be angry with him.

Oh no! My nanna used to have a saying 'I was so angry I was spitting fish hooks'. I never really understood it, but it sprung to mind when I read your post!

oh no that is awful - I can imagine you are angry. Our freezer broke and it was painful throwing that food away. He has a lot of makingup to do!

Having experienced much the same thing myself (my DH unplugged the freezer so he could plug the radio in!) I completely understand how you feel. I agree with the comment that he should be the one who does the shopping trip to replenish your supplies

I can really relate to this! Last year we purchased a quarter of beef, we had the freezer full of meat as well as veggies, chicken and pork. Went out to get something and noticed my freezer was defrosting, thank goodness some was still frozen in the bottom and some was still good enough to cook immediately but the rest was garbage. Someone had turned the breaker off to the outbuilding where the chest freezer is kept. I cried and cooked all day.

OOpps! Sounds like hubby will be wearing the spag bol instead.

That happened to me once. Different circumstances, same result. I can't stand waste so I immediately began cooking all the thawed, but not yet spoiled, meat and fish for dog food. Those critters ate like princes for quite a while.

Oh, my, GOD! Maggie, I am so sorry. I just know you've got to be SO torqued! When we had our OcSNOWburr storm and lost power for 4 days, we spent $600 to save $700 worth of food I had just in the freezer in our garage. I don't know what that is equivalent to in Euros, but I know it was a lot for me to think about losing. That's not counting what I had in the freezer in the kitchen or the food in the fridge. I shop so carefully to get good prices on the stuff I store in the freezer that I can imagine if my husband did something like that, well, the top of my head would just blow off! So, so sorry.

Oh my gosh...I'm so sorry you had to throw out all that food.

We're going to probably do that too. Our fridge is not doing well and the new one won't be here until Friday. So far, the frozens are still frozen, but I think everything in the fridge part will have to be thrown away. Say a good word that the freezer lasts just two more days.

Hope you get yours cleaned up and refilled soon.

In the meantime --- hubby will be in the doghouse.

Oh Maggie! I don't even know what to say, I'm so sorry. It's so awful to have to throw food away!
Big lesson learned for your hubby, hopefully. My son left our freezer door open for 2 days this summer, and we ended up throwing away a lot of food too. We just bought a case of Mahi Mahi fish from Costco, at a whopping $19.00 a bag. You probably have no idea what I am talking about, but I could have bought some really nice samplers with a lot of NPI silk, let's put it that way!
So sorry! Someday you will laugh at all of this...hopefully.

I think to offset this loss you need to buy stash to equal the amount spent in replacing the food! And if DH says anything give him a withering look!

Oh Maggie, how sad.
Supervision needed in future when you need some muscle help around the home.

Oh nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
Ugh. I'm so sorry.
I feel your pain. Literally. When the power was out for a week last September, I lost the (totally full) contents of a big freezer downstairs. So devastating to have to throw all that out. :(
(So devastating I never even bothered to use it again. My new motto is: if it doesn't fit in the small freezer in the fridge upstairs, then I don't need it! I just can't go through that again.)
Again, so sorry. :(
